Tolerant of dry soils or the wet margins of ponds, in sun or in shade – Houttuynia cordata ‘Boo-boo’ is a real survivor! Dark green, crinkled, heart shaped foliage with colourful yellow and red margins form dense, spreading clumps. The vibrant leaves of this hardy perennial make a superb backdrop for its white flower spikes from late spring onwards. In autumn, the aromatic foliage turns to fabulous shades of orange and red, adding a bright splash of late season colour to borders, bog gardens and shallow pond margins. Height: 40cm (16″). Spread: 100cm (39″). Planting depth: Zones 1 & 2 to 10cm (4″) below water level.
Culinary note: The leaves have an orange like smell and make a marvellous flavouring in salads. For more details about edible flowers click here.
